SILENCE AFTER
Silence After is a new musical work inspired by poetry written by women imprisoned in Auschwitz.
The project explores how memory continues to exist after the last living witnesses are gone, and how contemporary art can help carry that memory forward with care, dignity and responsibility.
The work is currently being developed for professional choir and string orchestra, with the long-term vision of expanding into a multidisciplinary project that will also include photography, painting, sound and spatial installation.
The recording you hear is an early two-minute a cappella sketch. It is intended only as an initial musical study and does not represent the final orchestral work. The composition is currently being developed in collaboration with a professional arranger and orchestrator specializing in choral and orchestral music.
As part of the artistic process, I will also undertake research at Auschwitz-Birkenau, where field recordings will become an integral part of the final composition.

Val Giamo
Val Giamo
is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, composer, and pianist based in Gothenburg.
Val has worked with several labels, including Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music Group, van Drumpt, and Berlin baised label Leiter. She recently signed a contract with a concert agency, and will be touring Portugal at the beginning of next year.
Val's visual works are held in private collections across Sweden, Germany, Bulgaria, and Greece. As a photographer, Giamo has been represented by JS Gallery on Artsy. Her exhibitions have been presented in Italy, Australia, and Greece. A solo exhibition took place in an Architectural Studio T5 in the center of Gothenburg December 2025.
